| Description |
Onril Ltd, a joint venture between Rileys and O&N of Italy, is a leading producer of Carpets and Rugs in Sri Lanka.
Several second-hand looms - different models, different brands - have been shipped from Italy to Sri Lanka.
The project aimed to create a brand new automation system from scratch, with a unique standard interface, handling transparently the large differences in hardware existing in these looms.
For ease of use, old disk systems were completely removed and replaced by standard USB key readers, that can easily handle large amounts of carpet designs.
The design system is based on a open-source application that has been extended to support 6 possible legacy proprietary formats, previously reverse-engineered, making the large existing library of designs readily available. |
